Day 01Arrive Kolkata

Arrive by international flight. After a traditional Indian-style “Swagat” (Welcome) by an Exceptional Escapes representative, you will be assisted at the airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in.
Kolkata, the cultural capital of India, is a vibrant blend of colonial charm and artistic spirit. Known as the ‘City of Joy’, Kolkata is famous for its colonial-era architecture, passionate literary traditions, and warm-hearted locals. Nestled on the banks of the Hooghly River, it is the birthplace of iconic poets, philosophers, and Nobel laureates. A city where the appreciation of art and literature flows in the veins of its people, Kolkata offers a unique cultural experience unlike any other.

Day 02Kolkata – Guided City Tour

After breakfast, proceed for a guided sightseeing tour of Kolkata, a vibrant city that blends colonial heritage with spiritual and cultural vibrancy:

  • Victoria Memorial – A magnificent white marble monument built between 1906–1921 in memory of Queen Victoria. Designed by Sir William Emerson, it draws architectural inspiration from the Taj Mahal.
  • Fort William, St. John’s Church, Marble Palace, and Tagore’s Castle – Each echoing stories of the British Raj and Bengal’s cultural legacy.
  • Howrah Bridge – An engineering marvel built without nuts and bolts, it is one of the longest cantilever bridges in the world, gracefully spanning the Hooghly River.
  • Nirmal Hriday (Home for the Dying Destitute) – Founded by Mother Teresa in 1952, this humanitarian shelter offers dignity and peace to the terminally ill.
  • Birla Mandir – A grand Hindu temple built by the Birla family, known for its intricate marble carvings and serene ambiance.
  • Belur Math – Headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission, it’s a tranquil spiritual center that embraces all religions and draws visitors for its calm, unifying aura.

Rest of the day at leisure to explore Kolkata’s vibrant markets or enjoy some souvenir shopping.

Day 03Kolkata – Transfer to Sundarbans National Park (100 km + Boat Journey)

After an early breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Godkhali Jetty (approx. 3-4 hours), the gateway to the Sundarbans – the world’s largest mangrove forest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Upon arrival at Godkhali, embark on a motorized boat journey through narrow tidal waterways, creeks, and rivers leading deep into the heart of the forest.
En route, enjoy the thrill of cruising through remote and pristine mangrove ecosystems rich in biodiversity. Look out for saltwater crocodiles, mudskippers, monitor lizards, and numerous species of birds.
Check-in at your eco-resort / jungle lodge, followed by lunch.
Afternoon Nature Watch Cruise – Explore the mangrove fringes while your naturalist guide explains the secrets of this unique delta, home to the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger, spotted deer, wild boars, and over 250 bird species.
In the evening, enjoy a cultural performance by local villagers showcasing traditional Baul music or Bonobibi folk tales that reflect the life and beliefs of the people living near the forest.

Day 04Full-Day Exploration of Sundarbans National Park

Early morning tea/coffee, followed by a thrilling full-day boat safari inside the core area of Sundarbans Tiger Reserve.
Visit watch towers like Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali, or Dobanki, which offer panoramic views of the jungle and are ideal for wildlife sightings.
Cruise through creeks like Narrow Channel, Pirkhali, Bonbibi Bharani, and Jharkhali, known for their rich fauna and flora. Keep your eyes open for:

  • Royal Bengal Tiger (if lucky!)
  • Saltwater Crocodiles basking on mudflats
  • Kingfishers, Eagles, Herons, and the Mangrove Whistler
  • Spotted Deer and Wild Boars

Packed lunch served onboard the boat while you continue your adventure through the remote wilderness.
Return to the resort by sunset. Evening at leisure – relax or engage with documentaries, local storytelling sessions, or simply enjoy the tranquility of the jungle.

Day 05Sundarbans – Return to Kolkata

Departure
After breakfast, check out and board the boat back to Godkhali Jetty. The journey takes you through the magical network of rivers, creeks, and dense mangrove forests, offering one last chance to spot rare wildlife or birds.
From Godkhali, drive back to Kolkata (approx. 3-4 hours) and intime you will be transferred to Kolkata International Airport to board your flight back home.

Tour Concludes with warm memories and exceptional experiences.
